OK, this entry is short. I did not fly this return segment until more than 70 days after my outward (Dubai to London) trip. In these two months, I have flown Virgin's very own Upper Class, Emirates Airline (5 segments), and even Thai International. Each of them offered much better experience than Virgin's Economy Class service. So my final grade may be biased. You may think I should have given Virgin better grade than that. But, well....
[Virgin Atlantic from London to Dubai]: My last flight of this "All Over the World Summer 2009 Trip". Well, again, it was an overnight flight with (supposedly 2 meals). The dinner came first. Since I asked for "Asian vegetarian" this time, it is Indian curry! Accompanied were salad and a plate of fruit. No real surprise here.
Main dish - Vegerable Curry dish with fried rice. Be honest, what is different from the curry on the right and the other on the left? OK, on the right is mixed vegetable and the left is cottage cheese. But, why didn't they make the one at left sag paneer (spinach) with cottage cheese? Well, I'm being difficult again I know...
The VA version of "Savory Snack" is ...well, a blueberry muffin? OK, I love blueberry anyway, whatever!The final verdict: I know in any sense, Virgin Atlantic is still way better than any big airline hailed from North America (and many other European airlines). However, I've been spoiled by Asian and Middle Eastern airlines. Sorry that I can only give them: B

OK, I have reviewed the "Upper Class Lounge (Club House)" and meals from Upper Class of Virgin Atlantic Airline here. But, I know, most of us cannot afford such luxury. And you might want to know, what is food in their "regular cabin" - Economy Class look like? The following is my review:
[Virgin Atlantic Airline - Dubai to London]: After all these years, finally I had the opportunities to fly Virgin Atlantic! This is their economy class still has such "souvenir pack"!

Lunch arrived - nice package
Lunch after my unwrapping. My friend Matt (from Taiwan) said it doesn't look appealing; however, my friend Michael (from US) thought it looks better than his in-flight meal on United Airline's business class...

Lunch entree - Chicken cutlet. It actually tasted better than it looks.
Desert - the caramel pudding, sweet!
This is not a long flight (about 6 hours), so the second meal is a very simple snack. We were only given a muffin and a drink.At this moment, I do not give a grade. the final verdict for Virgin Atlantic will come out after I post the pictures of return flight from London to Dubai.
在維京 Clubhouse 貴賓室的高級享受 (包括作臉及洗蒸汽浴)，再坐上它的上等客艙(Upper Class)，感覺就沒什麼新鮮的了。而且我之前搭達美，西北，及大陸航空都搭過他們所謂的『商務頭等艙』(Business First)。不過歐洲航空一般口碑比美國公司好，因此維京的飛機餐，仍是有些令人期待。
這趟飛機是由倫敦飛紐約，基本上在跨大西洋線中，飛行時間算是短的，通常不會超過七小時。而且幾乎都是日班機，因此只會提供一餐 (通常是午餐)，外加一份點心。
上圖：坐維京的上等客艙，它的區隔法是一個座位本身是個小空間，和鄰居幾乎打照面的機會都沒有。最好的是，腳還可以翹著。
上圖：坐商務艙的好處是，沒起飛前會先送來飲料。我先點了杯水，及一小杯香檳。剛好可以放在窗邊可拉出的小桌子上。

上圖：起飛後我因為累，馬上就先躺平睡著了。維京上等客艙的賣點是：他們有所謂的 flatbed。基本上，剛剛第一張照片裡的小空間可以自動轉換成一張小單人床。拉出後還有 Duvet的高級床單及被單，我舖好床後，好快就睡著了。
上圖：雖然只睡了兩小時，但是大概錯過了空姐推出小餐車，給大家下午茶茶點的服務。我睡醒收好床後，空姐是有問我是不是要些什麼。因為幾小時前才在 Clubhouse 貴賓室吃了一堆東西，我只和她要了杯奶茶。
上圖：正餐的服務終於開始了！空姐舖上桌巾及放上酒杯。這餐桌還算蠻大的。
上圖：維京航空的宣傳很愛別出心裁。沒想到飛機上，連迷你的胡椒及鹽容器都故意要做成卡通小鳥的模樣裝可愛。
上圖：麵包送上來了。我要了個大蒜麵包及義大利式的 foccacia 麵包。兩種麵包都蠻好吃的。
上圖：西式韮菜馬鈴薯湯 (Leek with potato soup)。長得雖然和剛剛在 clubhouse 的 brasseries 喝的濃湯很像，味道其實很不一樣。但很不幸地，味道不如 貴賓室餐廳的。
上圖：主菜有三種可供選擇：牛排，雞肉餐，及義大利麵食 (Pasta)。其中只有 pasta 算是素的。因為我雖齋戒期老早已結束，現在通常還是不太吃肉，於是叫了 pasta。結果這天的 "pasta" 其實是 risotto，翻成中文就是『米飯』。但義大利米飯作法和麵食幾乎一模一樣，做得非常粘稠，還加了一大堆起士。還好這一盤份量很少，不然一下子就吃膩了。Risotto 中綠綠的是西式蘆筍 (asparagus)，長起來還算鮮美。
上圖：吃 pasta，又是吃素，那就配杯白酒吧！
後來不知為什麼，竟忘了拍甜點。不過甜點的草莓蛋糕也只是普普通通就是了。
老實說，我對維京上等客艙的餐點有些失望。感覺還不如兩年前飛大陸航空，搭他們商務頭等艙的飛機餐。麵食，湯，甜點都普普通通。『硬體設施』(像是 flatbed) 是不錯。但若純由『飛機餐』觀點來看，維京只能得 ： B+
今年四月時，Skytrax 網站的『航空公司評鑑』才將維京航空 (Virgin Atlantic Airline) 倫敦希斯洛機場 (London Heathrow Airport) 的 Clubhouse 選為全球最佳『商務艙貴賓室』(Business Class Lounge)。但嚴格來說，給維京航空『上等客艙』(Upper Class)乘客用的 Clubhouse，其實不能算是『商務艙貴賓室』，而比較算是介於『頭等艙貴賓室』(First Class Lounge)及『商務艙貴賓室』的設施 (Skytrax 評鑑另排了『全球最佳頭等艙貴賓室』的名單，維京當然就沒有排進了。)
全球第一？這貴賓室到底有多豪華呢？我上了維京航空的互動式網站，看得還頗為心動的。兩層的 Clubhouse裡，不但有一般機場貴賓室都會有的吧台區，休憩區，自助餐服務區，甚至還有個正式的餐廳 (他們以法文的 brasseries 稱之)。更難得的是，貴賓室竟還有免費的美容沙龍 (Cowshed at Clubhouse),可以去剪髮，作臉，洗蒸汽浴。
當然，必須是維京航空常客金卡會員，或是搭乘『上等客艙』(Upper Class)，才有機會享用 Clubhouse 的設施。像我這種不是上流社會出身的，要進去使用的機會並不太多。
後來因料理家事，必須去美東一趟。由於我已經訂好了六月去歐洲參加同學會的計畫，去美東也得由歐洲走了。看一看各家跨大西洋線的航空公司，維京航空由倫敦飛紐約的票價，頗令人心動。再仔細一看，單程由倫敦希斯洛到紐約甘迺迪機場，只要加三百多美金，就可由經濟艙，升等到『上等客艙』。通常這樣付費升等，是至少得一千元美金以上的。
那麼，就去付費升等吧！
背包客當久了，真的偶爾要享受一下。
七月初的一個早晨，我提早在起飛時間前五小時來到機場。Check-in，通關出境英國後，我趕快來到 Clubhouse 一窺究竟。

上圖： 先去自助餐區點壽司及燻鮭魚。然後到可以點餐的 brasseries 坐下來，慢慢享用。
上圖： 當然，在 brasseries 都坐下來了。侍者來問我要吃些什麼，我還是點了濃湯，一個小的主菜，以及甜點。還好份量都不太多，不然沒上飛機前，先把自己撐死。圖中是我點的薄荷香菜濃湯，味道還不錯。
上圖： 因不想把自己撐死，主菜故意點個超小的。這是法式鹹派 (quiche), 因為裡面主要是起士及馬鈴薯，適合蛋奶素素食者。
上圖： 法式鹹派 (quiche)的進照。上面覆一層 arugula 蔬菜及烤洋蔥，算是蠻好吃的。
上圖： 甜點 "Eton Mess"，可能是在英國聞名的 Eton 高校發明的。基本上就是草莓，草莓醬加鮮奶油，還不錯的甜點。
上圖： 還有圖書館區，這裡有幾個筆電可用來上網，也可以免費印東西。
上圖： 可以躺下來小睡的休憩區。
上圖： 再上一層的 Sky Lounge還有這樣的太空時代躺椅，讓你一邊睡一邊聽情緒音樂 (mood music)。

可以過一下上流社會的生活真好啊！雖然只有幾個小時。不過，該去登機了‧‧‧‧

題外話： 有錢，真好。真希望以後能常用這樣的貴賓室啊！ 可是我的收入，搭上等客艙也只能偶而為之啊‧‧‧‧‧
