After a morning wandering in San Telmo, I headed east to the waterfront district of Puerto Madero. Well, what can I say? It is as charming as Baltimore's Inner Harbor (with fewer tourists but more local people actually live nearby).
A long line of warehouses have been converted into expensive new lofts, offices, or restaurants. Many newest high-rise condos are being built at this moment and expected to be sold at premium prices. One of the most historic port districts in Buenos Aires also becomes its newest neighborhood. Those of us who cannot afford anything in Washington DC, New York, or California (which we may pay a mortgage until 2110) maybe can give those new condos in Puerto Madero a try. It is only 10 hours' flight from DC...
The next day, trying to maximize the number of countries (Argentina is the 70th) I've been to. I made a daytrip across the river (so wide, feel like crossing a bay) to Colonia, Uruguay. Some of the pictures were taken from the ferry boat when I was leaving Buenos Aires.

Riverwalk at Puerto Madero: a modern footbridge and a
high-rise condos were under construction. I forgot to ask how much it
cost for a three-bedroom unit there...
Yes, this neighbohood looks just as "chraming" (in a sarcastic tone of course) as Baltimore...
An
interesting building that looks like a flattened Sydney Opera House.
Lonely Planet says it is "Opera Bay," a very trendy nightclub. But when I
was there, I think it has already changed name.
Darsena Norte, just outisde of ferry terminal of Buenos Aires
Crossing Rio de la Plata ("Plate River") to the north shore, and to another country...
Now Buenos Aires is further behind me. The color of Rio de la Plata surely looks very muddy here.
